Ealing Parks Foundation working with Ealing Council, are planning improvements to South Ealing Cemetery to create a more welcoming space for visitors.
As featured in our November 2024 Park of the Month, the cemetery has become overgrown in recent years and the chapels have fallen into disrepair. We have developed a proposal of how the cemetery could retain its charm and dignity while also functioning as a park/ green space for leisure.

Short term proposals:
• cut back overgrown shrubs to improve sight lines and sense of safety

• create welcoming entrances – flower beds, signage

• develop biodiversity features and surveys
• install bollards at mid-point to deter ‘rat running’ vehicles

• consult on proposals, involving local residents and interested parties e.g. bulb planting

• allow dogs on lead (current notices say they are banned but this is largely ignored in practice)

Medium term proposals
• create walking trails – history, trees, nature

• more benches and bins

• support a Friends Group

• achieve ‘Green Flag’ status

• carry out urgent repairs to chapels

Longer term
• secure grant funding for a complete restoration of the chapels enabling them to be used again for a community purpose
We would like your views on the proposals, please let us know via this survey.
